Failure: The Secret to Success

Have you watched the documentary series - Dreams the Impossible yet? If the answer is No, then please do yourself a favor and take a peek at them at www.dreams.honda.com web site presented by Honda. And no, i am not working for them if that is what you are wondering. I am just being appreciated for their efforts to pull everything together in order to create such a well done masterpiece. Some people would agree with me after looking at it, others might response - that are just their advertisng tactics. Even if so, that is definitely a brilliant idea.

The short-film documentary Failure - the Secret to Success, as much as the whole series, reveals the essence of Honda's philosophy in a intimate way. The multimedia, interactive web site completely crosses out the old traditional advertising way: Hey, im good, look at me! It brings the gap between consumer and Honda closer. The company bares itself to audiences. There is no obligation to watch a commercial interupted your favorite TV show, just a need to listen patiently a close friend who is opening his whole: his dreams, his mistakes and his efforts to overcome the challenges to make things right - just like everyone else. You see things the way Honda sees; learn about facts and its history; understand their motto: The idea is that you can fail 100 times as long as you succeed once - Soichiro Honda.

In 1994, Honda failed miserably in racing field. In 1995, it won its first race and took the championship in 1996. It now is a sole supplier of engines for the IRL.

"I never failed, it just didnt work 10000 times, and the 10001th, it lit up.. If you look at that way, were those failures?

It is a profile, a bio and a strong emotional advert. I dont know how much of it was made up but i have to give them a thumbs up and i did learn something about the company. For that, its good enough to me!

  1. I'm not sure whether I have seen it before. I check it out rite away.
Their philosophy is very similar the concept of Thomas Anderson who invented neon-light ( if I'm not mistaken). Maybe every philosophy has common beginning, failure- secret to success - at least it's totally right in this situation - Honda and Anderson and many others

  2. Right on Nana, the quote 10000 times was from him and Honda did use it for this short video. But that is just one of their series and the Web site just started last month ( i think) so its still brand new. Check it out and let me know if you learn anything hehehhe
